You only need a doctor’s note if you are unable to work and are ill for longer than seven calendar days. Your employer will provide you with an SC2 self-certificate form for shorter periods of illness.
If you do have an illness lasting more than 7 days please contact your usual branch for advice. If it is your first sick note for this illness you will most likely need to see a GP, for follow up sick notes this may not be necessary. It can take up to 48 hours for your sick note to be ready to collect.
If you have had surgery, or are undergoing treatment at the hospital which prevents you from working, please ask your consultant to provide you with an appropriate sick note. They will have greater knowledge of the recovery time required and it can take up to a month for us to receive a letter from the hospital.
